Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Dublin

The ask

Situated close to heart of both Dublin’s business and tourist sector, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel is a popular destination for conferences and travellers alike. And in order to maintain the Radisson group’s reputation for excellence it needed to have a state-of-the-art AV and video conferencing system.

The hotel has a large conference space, a 300-seater auditorium, which can be divided into three separate sections at any one time. So, this means each part needs to work as a unit but also independently.

On top of that the hotel built a new spa, pool and gym and has a network of TV sets in each room delivering top-quality entertainment.
So, when they came to us for help in ensuring all their AV needs were being met, we took a look at servicing them across all their customer’s and guest’s touchpoints.

The fix

Installing and upgrading all the various systems took place over several years. It started with us looking at the multifunctional auditorium space, and that involved a lot of new technology at the time.

We used DECT or wireless microphones. We used Extron XTP digital transfers system with a view to giving them a system fit for the future. And we used projectors that were the latest laser projectors. Then we also installed a user-friendly room booking system.

In their 10 smaller meeting rooms we added full touch displays with unified communications capabilities that could be used for video conferencing. We also installed wireless connectivity, which allows businesspeople or hotel staff to effortlessly share their content to all their equipment or devices.

For the TV system, we set up an IPTV network that allows guests to stream channels. But we also installed a data access hub, which is a powerful piece of equipment that allows IPTV to work in buildings with older connections. And there are now 180 rooms running on that.

Then finally for the Spa, we set up 10 different audio zones with multiple-user interfaces. This meant that each of the therapists can play their own music in each of the treatment rooms. The gym and the pool area had their separate systems too. So, it was all neatly zoned and easily controlled over an iPad or desk controls.

The result

An initial build over 3 years ago has led to ongoing work in helping Radisson Blu Royal Hotel maintain the highest of standards for guest and customer experiences.

And our holistic approach has led to them being extremely satisfied with all the work that has been carried out.

We’ve since installed IPTV systems in several more of their hotels using the same fix. The Radisson Group are also in the process of building their own convention centre. And we’ve been asked to design the AV for that as well.
