The NEC Modular Touch System with its modular multi-touch frames allows scalable video walls in landscape and portrait orientation of any size. The solution is based on ShadowSenseTM touch over-frame kits and NEC’s 46” and 55” ultra-narrow large format MultiSync? X464UNS-2 PG and X555UNS PG video wall displays with integrated protective glass.

Target applications include command & control rooms broadcast studios exhibitions corporate lobbies retail stores booths at stadiums and events. The NEC Modular Touch System makes it easy and cost effective to add a whole new dimension to your video wall.

The touch frame is separate from the glass so each piece can be removed and replaced without affecting the rest of the system.

Simple Interface
A single USB cable and power source is all that is needed to interface with the frame.

Sensor Bars (Top)
Each bar contains multiple sensors used to detect the shadow cast by touch objects.

ShadowSense touch technology is an innovative and patented optical position sensing technology. The best analogy for ShadowSense technology lies in the 6000 year old sundial. The shadows of a touch point cast by multiple light sources (light bars) and multiple sensors (sensor bars) allow an extremely accurate touch calculation.

The innovative Dashboard application provides users with the ability to easily adjust the performance and touch characteristics of the NEC Modular Touch System touchscreen behaviour.

• Touch Rejection – sensing the size of an object gives ShadowSense control over what is recognised as a valid touch versus an unintentional touch. Using Dashboard precise definitions of a valid touch size (min and max) can be programmed.

• Shadow Density – ShadowSense differs from all other technologies in that it senses not only the size of the object but also the transparency. Dashboard is used to adjust shadow densities to tune out objects based on transparency like water versus fingers.

• Pen and Eraser Detection – ShadowSense can recognise the difference between a stylus finger or eraser without having to make monotonous menu selections. The size of the pen and eraser can be set and adjusted within Dashboard so that any sized pen and eraser can be used.

• Hardware Monitoring – provides immediate feedback of sensor and LED functionality of the ShadowSense bars for quick and easy troubleshooting as well as remote monitoring.

The NEC Modular Touch System allows any size to be assembled around a variety of monitor combinations. The number of available touch points depends on the number of installed sensor bars: Each sensor bar provides five simultaneous touch points.
